Abstract
Although cancer is rare in childhood it kills more children than any other disease and is second only to accidents as the commonest cause of death between 1-14 years of age. There are great differences in the incidence of these tumors in various countries. 2628 pediatric tumor cases registered in our department in last 20 years. 1455 (55.96%) of them are malignant. The three commonest classes of malignant tumors of infancy and childhood are lymphomas (24%), leukemias and tumors of the central nervous system. All solid tumors together make 40-45% of them.
