Abstract
In this study, the place of partial laryngectomy in laryngeal cancer and our results in patients treated with partial laryngectomy is discussed. In our service, 102 patients between 1.1.1988 and 12.10.1992 were operated for laryngeal cancer. In 102 of them (%75) total laryngectomy, and in 25 of them (%24) partial laryngectomy was performed. Then, we examined these patients with 1.5 months intervals. We also observed the frequency and the amplitude of the voice in 4 of the patients with IBM Speech Viewer program. According to our results, 1-year survival rate in 8 patients, 2-year survival rate in 10 patients, and 3-year survival rate in 5 patients were found as 100 %. We saw 1 metastasis over 25 patients (4%). Amang the results of IBM Speech Viewer program, the best voice quality was found in partial horizontal supraglottif laryngectomy and the worst was found in frontolateral partial laryngectomy.
