Abstract
The evaluation of fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) in the diagnosis of prostatic cancer was aimed. The results of FNAB and transperineal digital guided prostatic needle biopsy (PNB) of 40 patients with clinically suspicious prostatic cancer were presented. Adequate material for evaluation was obtained in 34 cases with FNAB and in 37 cases with PNB. Histological diagnosis was obtained with transurethral prostatic resection in 4 cases. Prostatic cancer was diagnosed in 19 (48%) cases. Thus sensitivities of FNB, FNAB and combination of two techniques were found as 79%, 6%8 and 8%4 respectively. We concluded that FNAB has an important role in diagnosis of prostatic cancer with its low complication rate.
