Abstract
In the present study, the diagnostic value of serum Cyfra 21 -1 level studied in 80 patients. Fourty-three of who have lung cancer and 37 of them have noncancer pulmonary lesions at our clinic in 1994-1995. Serum Cyfra 21-1 level was higher significantly in lung cancer patients than controls. The spesifity, sensitivity and accuracy of test have been calculated as 75.7, 76.7 and 76.2% respectively according to 3.3 ng/ml cut off level. When lung cancer patients have been grouped as epidermoid-adenocarcinoma, specificity of test has been calculated as 11.1% and the sensitivity has been calculated as 72.7%. The difference of levels between the two groups wasn't statistically significant. We observed that serum cyfra 21-1 level could be a useful marker in the diffentiation of benign lesions from lung cancers in agreement with literature.
