THE RESULTS OF POSTOPERATIVE RADIATION THERAPY IN NON-SMALL CELL LUNG CANCER

121 patients with operated NSCLC were evaluated retrospectively to determine efficacy of postoperative radiotherapy. For all patients 5 year local control was 44.6%. For stage I, II, III A, III B 5 year local control was 48.5%, 73.2%, 44.8% and 40.9% respectively. Local control was significantly worser for patients with pleural and/or thoracic wall involvement and positive surgical margin. Statistically significant better local control was observed in pat with adenocarsinoma when compared with other histologic types. For patients with pleural involvement and N3 involvement overal survival was significantly worser. (than patients who pleural involvement and with early lenfatic stage), (both local control and overal survival was better). When time between surgery and radiotherapy less than 40 days. No severe life theratening grade IV acute toxicity findings were observed. We observed 6 radiation pneumonia, 16 radiation fibrosis and 1 ischemic cardiac disease.
