Abstract
A 50-year-old woman was admitted to our department with a mass originating from the pancreatic tail. Fine needle aspiration biopsy showed a malignant tumor of the pancreas. A distal pancreatectomy together with splenectomy, left nefrectomy and partial resection of ileum was performed. Histopathological examination revealed moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma of the pancreas. The patient subsequently received 40 Gy of radiotherapy. She is alive without disease at four months after diagnosis. Squamous cell carcinoma of the pancreas is a rare variant of pancreatic ductal cell carcinoma and data related to its therapy and prognosis are limited. Therefore, clinical and histopathological findings of our case were discussed in the view of the literature.
