Abstract
Pleural effusions due to pleural metastasis in breast cancer considerably shortens the life expectancy of the patient. Since pleural metastasis in breast cancer generally affects the parietal pleura, diagnosis and early therapy is possible. In contrast to them, visceral pleural metastasis poses a great diagnostic problem leading delays in therapy induction and often necessitating surgical interventions. A case of ipsilateral atelectasis 7 years after breast cancer operation with combined radiotherapy and its surgical therapy is presented with a brief review of the literature.
