THYMIC CARCINOMA: A CASE REPORT

Thymic carcinomas are rare neoplasms with poor prognosis. They occur usually alone, rarely in thymoma. Cytologically, they are differentiated from thymoma by the fact that the epitelial cells appear malignant. Thymic carcinomas are divided in two cathegories; low grade and high grade. Approximately 1/3 of cases are low grade and 2/3 high grade. Patients with low-grade histology have better prognosis than those with high-grade histology. Several histological subtypes of them have been identified. Squamous cell carcinoma is subtype which is seen mostly. Here, we presented a case of thymic carcinoma who was started to be followed up after surgery and radiotherapy.
