Abstract
Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) is a group
of diverse medical and health care systems, practices, and
products that are not presently considered to be part of conventional
medicine. However, prevalence of CAM use is
increasing in both cancer patients and the general population.
Many cancer patients use CAM to provide treatment or cure,
support treatment or cure, prevent cancer and recurrence, as a
substitute for conventional treatment, and as a last resort in
combination with conventional medicine. The purpose of this
review was to provide information regarding the reasons for
CAM use in cancer patients and the associated factors.
