Abstract
The treatment of malignant soft tissue tumors requires a through understanding of tumour behavior. A multidisciplinary team of Orthopaedic surgeon, radiologist, pathologist, radiation oncologist and medical oncologist must evaluate every case and appropriate mode of treatment must be selected for individual patient. Histological Grade, localisation and metastasis of the tumour are hall marks of surgical treatment. Local radical resections and ablative radical operations combined with radiotherapy and cytostatic treatment are the treatment of choice. Biopsy and Surgical staging must be per formed by the team who is capable of per forming definitive treatment of the patient. 31 cases of malignant soft tissue tumours treated in Orthopaedics Clinic of Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine of University of Istanbul between 1972-1987 are reviewed and results of surgical treatment are presented.
