Between 1984 and 1986, 37 consecutive patients at the University of Ankara Medical School were seen with small cell carcinoma of the lung 20 patients were treated with cranical irradiation additional to chemotherapy. In this report role of prophylactic cranial irradiation in prevention of brain metastases is discussed. No patients who received prophylactic cranial irradiation had brain metastasis during clinical follow-up.
