State of clinical trials in the field of oncology in Turkey

Abstract
We performed a questionnaire survey with the intention to
reveal the state of clinical investigations conducted in oncology,
and problems hindering achievement of more qualified
studies in Turkey. Twelve survey questions were directed to
physicians working in the field of medical oncology. Hundred
and twelve physicians participated in the study. Annually median
number of 2.3 articles written by the participating physicians
have been included in the Science Citation Index All the
participating physicians indicated that medical oncologists in
our country had not spared enough time for clinical researches.
Based on their responses 82% of them had participated
in clinical investigations, and 32% of them had not receive
any training on this issue. When problems encountered as for
realization of clinical investigations were questioned, in order
of decreasing importance the following issues have been emphasized:
inability to spare time for investigations because of
routine health care.
