Pain in the elderly with cancer

Abstract
Prolonging life span lead to lose the ability of the cells's
regeneration and the development of cancer cells. Cancer
patients may suffer from pain related tumor invasion or compression
of pain-sensitive structures, diagnosis and treatment
of cancer or non-cancer reasons. Pain adversely affect
activities of daily life and leads to decrease their quality of
life. Therefore, evalution of pain in elderly patients plays an
important role in the treatment process and quality of life.
This requires a multi-dimensional approach, such as physical,
emotional, and psychosocial. Nurses should identify and
evaluate subjective symptom of pain, choose the appropriate
methods of relieving pain.
