31 histopathologically verified chordoma patients seen in İstanbul University Oncology Institute between the years 1974 and 1987 are retrospectively analysed. % 64.5 of the cases had sacro-cocygeal localisation. 5 and 10 year survival rates are % 23.4 and % 3 respectively. The effect of tumor volume, tumor localisation and radiation dose on survival are analysed in 27 patients who could be followed after radiotherapy with a median follow-up of 38 months. General treatment policy in chordomas will be discussed.
