Abstract
Eleven histologically proven chordoma cases, with the age range of 9-58 years, were treated between January 1975 and December 1989. Location of the tumors are, seven intracranial, two cervical and two sacrococcygeal. The primary surgical interventions were, one gross total tumor excision, four subtotal excision and four biopsy only. The remaining two patients had multipl operations. All of the patients received postoperative radiotherapy with Cobalt-60 teletherapy unit, with a dose of 125-300 cGy/day and the total tumor dose was 3000-6000 cGy. In this study, patients are classified according to their symptomatic responce to the radiotherapy. Five patients were asymptomatic, while two patients showed improvement and three patients remained stable. One case showed progression of the symptoms.
