Abstract
Renal cell carcinoma is the most common primary malignancy of the kidney in adults, but it occurs only rarely in children. Microscopically, the tumor tissue resembles renal tubules. The stage at the time of diagnosis is the most important prognostic factor. Most of the recurrences and deaths occur within the first two years after diagnosis, but late recurrences are not infrequent. In this paper, three cases of renal cell carcinoma are presented and the literature about childhood renal cell carcinoma is reviewed.
