Abstract
Extramedullary plasmacytoma of the endolarynx and thyroid cartilage is very rare. Multiple myeloma, solitary plasmacytoma of bone, and extramedullary plasmacytoma constitute a continuum of a disease spectrum, which is called plasma cell neoplasms. Ossification of the thyroid cartilage with formation of a marrow space could explain the occurrence of plasmacytoma in this unusual location.

A 70-year-old male patient presented with slight hoarseness and tenderness in the neck over the larynx for 4 months was admitted to the operation and frozen section showed plasma cell neoplasia. The tumor was excised locally and after investigation a diagnosis of extramedullary plasmacytoma of the thyroid cartilage was made. He was then applied postoperative radiation therapy of 5000 cGy/25 fr/5 weeks to the tumor bed and regional lymph nodes. Because of the rarity of this neoplasm, we herein present this patient as a case raport and patient was followed upto 17 months.
