SMALL CELL LUNG CANCER WİTH PANCREATİC METASTASE: REPORT A CASE

Abstract
Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) among lung cancers is mostly encountened one. Pancreas is one of the rarest metastatic sites for SCLC. In this report a case of small cell lung cancer with diabetes mellitus associated with pancreatic metastase.


A 48 year old woman was admitted to the hospital with dyspnoea, cough, sputum and signs of superior vena cava obstruction. In bronchoscopy, a tumor was seen at the level of carina and infiltrating distal to the trachea. Specimens of bronchial biopsy and lawage were not diagnostic. A chemotherapeutic regimen consisting of cis-platinum and etoposide was given and then radiotherapy for paliation of VCSS. A few months after chemo-radiotherapy, the patient complanined of severe abdominal pain and developed an uncontrolled Diabets. Abdominal ultrasonography showed a mass. A tru-cut biopsy under USG was performed and histopatholojic examination demonstrated a small cell cancer originated from lung. Sitostatic treatment was completed to 6 cycles. The lesion in the lung was regressed in to 80 % whereas the pancreatic lesion did not change. The patient was died 12 months after diagnosis.
